I have been designing logos for over 5 years now and there is something I follow with every logo design. I felt like sharing this with you all. Some of these tips might really help budding designers.
Tips for designing a logo –
I always make a questionnaire and have a discovery call with client. The aim is to get to know more about what the client wants and what they actually need. You will need to customize the questions from time to time as you don’t just want them to answer generic questions but also try and make them think about their ideas and values. I will share a copy of the questionnaire I usually start with.
After getting all the answers I get a rough idea about the target audience, competitors, company, personality, likes and dislikes. There are some of the most important things a designer should know before starting out.
So let’s dive in
1. Simple and Minimal logo is what you should start with and then make it catchy and easily memorable for others.
2. Always start with paper and pencil. Try sketching at least for an hour and draw concepts, set an alarm if required. Don’t overthink just draw basic shapes and move ahead. Sketching helps us not to limit ourselves and develop new and fresh ideas.

3. Use geometric shapes in logo to keep it balanced and scalable.
4. Do some research – Google some keywords related to the business/company and save all the ideas and create a mood board which helps generating new ideas.
5. Use negative space it make it look creative and innovative.
6. Don’t be impatient to try colours, always start with black and white.
7. Fonts – choose fonts according to the personality of the business like it’s luxury product/feminine/muscular/friendly/expensive/creative.
8. All logos have a meaning or story so make a note of it before showing it to the client.
9. Lastly, presentation has to be good. Check this I have created for one of my client Click Here
